Couple Compass grew out of a shared frustration: too many Himalayan tours felt transactional. Buses full of strangers, rushed itineraries, guides who recited facts from a script. The mountains deserved better — and so did the people who came to experience them.

We started small: a handful of carefully designed expeditions, led by guides who were born and raised in the communities they take you through. People who know which monastery opens its kitchen to guests on cold mornings, which ridge offers the best sunrise view, and which family in Kibber makes the best butter tea in Spiti.

That local knowledge — unhurried, intimate, and genuinely shared — is what Couple Compass is built on. It is not something you can replicate from a guidebook. It takes years of living in the mountains, earning the trust of communities, and understanding the rhythms of the high Himalaya.
